#NEW MUSIC MONDAY FEATURED ARTIST: ICE COLD EMO

Introducing, Ian Montgomery...you don't hear a name like that too common nowadays, now do you? And you know, that's a good thing, especially in the music game. His goal? To bring something different in the art of music, lil bruh, 23 years old, and Queen City native is doing what he is set to do, bringing the difference. Now, some may say it's "too left field", but let him tell it, it's just his way of expressing art. To add, Ian's also a gifted hand drawing artist...but please, let's call him "Ice Cold Emo" from here on out (lol), and he has evolved his creative release from drawing pad, to the recording booth.

Let's get a lil more in depth with the homie...taking it back to 2008, he was impressed by a rap/dance supergroup "Show Stoppas", who were commonly known around the city of ATL for their hit song & dance, "Whoop Rico". After seeing that, it inspired the "Cooler One" himself, to replicate their marketing model by promoting his singles on funky shirt designs & graphics that are eye-popping. Hey, got to get it how you see if to do it!

With the use of live performance, like a true star, will be the sure thing to solidify his standing in this music game...and if you haven't seen his performances live, you're missing out on this "Ice Cold" brotha! Like with many artists, with hits (and misses), but plenty music as his disposal like "Fii Jook", "Billie Jean 2011", "90's Baby" & "Booty Jookn", there's no way his music can fumble your ears when giving a listen. So, Ice Cold Emo, the Coolest Ever to do it, we salute you family....music listeners, lend your ears (and eyes) to what he's got going on...BOOM!

Grind & Shine Featured Artist: Angi The Artist

When you hear the passion & creativity in one's voice, especially when it's from a person who's serious in their craft, you'll know there's something special about that person. Who do I speak of as I write this? Let me introduce you to who I'm talking about. Born & raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Angi The Artist has had a natural liking to music since her childhood days, listening to Arabic music, when running day-to-day errands with her Egyptian mother; who barely spoke English at the time. In the early 90's, her interest intensified when she was introduced to the music of popular American artists such as, The Notorious B.I.G., Aaliyah, Boyz II Men, 2Pac and The Fugees.

The thought of being a recording artist herself, never crossed her mind until her early 20's. But what attracted her the most to musical composition was not only the lyrics, but the way in how the words were being delivered & the emotions behind them. With this early fascination with words, as well as an interest in the writing process of film and television production, Angi felt that the closest she could possibly get to creative writing on a pro level, was to be a screenwriter. So after high school, she headed west, moving to Long beach, California and attended California State University, Long Beach, to pursue a degree in Film and Electronic Arts. During the three-month following graduation during post-production of her senior thesis film, Angi became instantly triggered to start developing and honing the skill set of Hip Hop music. Not only does Angi owes this triggered inspiration to other Hip Hop and other musical artists, but more heavily so to historical religious figures like Jesus and Prophet Mohammed.

She is now an aspiring rapper who considers her music to be conceptual pieces of work that make references to social, political, and gender-related issues.  Also in her mix are songs that are fun and upbeat, and that tie cinematic & cultural references; given she is a film enthusiast as well. But she is extremely zealous over other hip-hop lyricists and considers herself a student of the myriad versatile techniques. Among her influences are Lauryn Hill, The Fugees,  Nas, Jay-Z, Lupe Fiasco, Eminem, Jay Electronica, A Tribe Called Quest, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, KRS One, Wu-Tang Clan, Kanye West, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Drake, Immortal Technique, Low Key, and many more.

Although she puts her love for music above her love for film, and claims to be an avid soldier of lyricism, Angi The Artist also considers herself an overall artist who in the future hopes to leverage a career as rapper to a career in film and television production. She aspires to be a director, cinematographer, screenwriter, and actress, as well as become a social activist for disenfranchised people and communities.
