#NEW MUSIC MONDAY FEATURED ARTIST: ICE COLD EMO

Introducing, Ian Montgomery...you don't hear a name like that too common nowadays, now do you? And you know, that's a good thing, especially in the music game. His goal? To bring something different in the art of music, lil bruh, 23 years old, and Queen City native is doing what he is set to do, bringing the difference. Now, some may say it's "too left field", but let him tell it, it's just his way of expressing art. To add, Ian's also a gifted hand drawing artist...but please, let's call him "Ice Cold Emo" from here on out (lol), and he has evolved his creative release from drawing pad, to the recording booth.

Let's get a lil more in depth with the homie...taking it back to 2008, he was impressed by a rap/dance supergroup "Show Stoppas", who were commonly known around the city of ATL for their hit song & dance, "Whoop Rico". After seeing that, it inspired the "Cooler One" himself, to replicate their marketing model by promoting his singles on funky shirt designs & graphics that are eye-popping. Hey, got to get it how you see if to do it!

With the use of live performance, like a true star, will be the sure thing to solidify his standing in this music game...and if you haven't seen his performances live, you're missing out on this "Ice Cold" brotha! Like with many artists, with hits (and misses), but plenty music as his disposal like "Fii Jook", "Billie Jean 2011", "90's Baby" & "Booty Jookn", there's no way his music can fumble your ears when giving a listen. So, Ice Cold Emo, the Coolest Ever to do it, we salute you family....music listeners, lend your ears (and eyes) to what he's got going on...BOOM!

And here's how he plans to shake things up stated by the homie:

"but after that I plan to shake the world wit this juice thing we got people also hooked to in our area. ..juice ...is a diss to swag....I know people tired of people saying swag dis swag dat ..people stealin swag ...blah blah...but ima change that and introduce them to juice...no tupac .....juice a whole different persona of a person.....and the definition of persona is.....the way a group of individuals act, to make em stand out in a certain way to other people.....thats us....we dem guys....DIFFERENT EVERYTHING RAP STYLE...LINGO...PERSONA...DRESSCODE...WHAT EVER THAT MAKES UP RAP WE CHANGED IT!.naw fareal....we changed it ..tired of swag?? ..tired of same oh same oh sounding rappers? ...WELL PICK UP DIS JUICE ...AND WATCH STUFF BEGAN TO FLIP UPSIDE DOWN We Will Stand Above The Industry Off Rip! Grind & Shine Featured Artist: Angi The Artist

When you hear the passion & creativity in one's voice, especially when it's from a person who's serious in their craft, you'll know there's something special about that person. Who do I speak of as I write this? Let me introduce you to who I'm talking about. Born & raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Angi The Artist has had a natural liking to music since her childhood days, listening to Arabic music, when running day-to-day errands with her Egyptian mother; who barely spoke English at the time. In the early 90's, her interest intensified when she was introduced to the music of popular American artists such as, The Notorious B.I.G., Aaliyah, Boyz II Men, 2Pac and The Fugees.

The thought of being a recording artist herself, never crossed her mind until her early 20's. But what attracted her the most to musical composition was not only the lyrics, but the way in how the words were being delivered & the emotions behind them. With this early fascination with words, as well as an interest in the writing process of film and television production, Angi felt that the closest she could possibly get to creative writing on a pro level, was to be a screenwriter. So after high school, she headed west, moving to Long beach, California and attended California State University, Long Beach, to pursue a degree in Film and Electronic Arts. During the three-month following graduation during post-production of her senior thesis film, Angi became instantly triggered to start developing and honing the skill set of Hip Hop music. Not only does Angi owes this triggered inspiration to other Hip Hop and other musical artists, but more heavily so to historical religious figures like Jesus and Prophet Mohammed.

She is now an aspiring rapper who considers her music to be conceptual pieces of work that make references to social, political, and gender-related issues.  Also in her mix are songs that are fun and upbeat, and that tie cinematic & cultural references; given she is a film enthusiast as well. But she is extremely zealous over other hip-hop lyricists and considers herself a student of the myriad versatile techniques. Among her influences are Lauryn Hill, The Fugees,  Nas, Jay-Z, Lupe Fiasco, Eminem, Jay Electronica, A Tribe Called Quest, Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, KRS One, Wu-Tang Clan, Kanye West, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Drake, Immortal Technique, Low Key, and many more.

Although she puts her love for music above her love for film, and claims to be an avid soldier of lyricism, Angi The Artist also considers herself an overall artist who in the future hopes to leverage a career as rapper to a career in film and television production. She aspires to be a director, cinematographer, screenwriter, and actress, as well as become a social activist for disenfranchised people and communities.

You could learn more about Angi The Artist by visiting her webpage angitheartist.comwhere you will find differentiated pages that feature her work in film, music, and photography.  For more of a direct connection to her music, you could visit her soundcloud page at https://soundcloud.com/angi-the-artist.

Grind & Shine Featured Artist: Ace Deuce

“Music for the mind, body, and soul.” That’s what Harlem native Ace Deuce describes his music. The youngest of 3 children, Ace always had a passion for music. Growing up listening to classic groups and artists from the 70s and 80s such as Delfonics, Blue Magic, Cheryl Lynn and countless others, he quickly fell in love with music and the words and meanings behind them.

As a teen he often wrote freestyles in his spare time, but usually wrote a lot of story telling rhymes to other artists instrumentals, or other instrumentals his friends would make. It wasn’t until a visit to Sony Music Studios in mid 2003 where he realized music would be his calling in life. While at a recording session with his cousin and others, he got to see how everything works in the studio, from the recording, to the mixing. He then decided to attend Touro College where he took up Digital Media Arts. At school he wrote and linked up with other students to work on music. He learned all he needed in this music program and used his skills to begin producing and engineering.

Ace has done some producing and engineering for local artist’s mixtapes and other projects. He continued to grind and perfect his craft while networking and meeting other producers, artists and industry insiders. He also got the chance to go to writing sessions at times with songwriters who were in the game for years. His hard work and perseverance paid off when he landed an internship with Mona Scott-Young(Love N Hip Hop) at her new company Monami Entertainment.

At Monami Entertainment, he really got to see how the industry works. Ace saw the steps taken to negotiate contracts, set up shows, music videos, preparing budgets, and other necessary things that make the music industry go round. Helping out artists such as Jim Jones, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliot and others, he soaked all of this knowledge up and began to apply what he learned towards his music. Even Mona Scott and a few others encouraged him to never give up and do what he has to do to make his dream come true.

After parting ways and venturing out on his own, Ace still managed to do music for local artists. But then came a situation that would either make him or break him. He hit rock bottom and nearly lost everything, including his life. But these series of events he faced were not too much for him to handle, as he found more success with his music. He inked a tv/film licensing deal with Linnette Harrigan Media where he landed a song placement on the new season of Bad Girls Club Chicago. He also linked up with veteran producers and executives who have credits on major artists albums and mixtapes like Usher, Jay Z, Fat Joe, Fabolous, French Montana, etc. Other people are interested in Ace and he continues to network, attend meetings, and work with other producers to make hits. Things are looking up for Ace and he is only destined to keep going to the top.

Grind & Shine Featured Artist: Lil G

Lil G grew up in the Hollywood Heights neighborhood (aka Hollyhood or H-3 11) of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Being raised in Fayetteville aka ‘Fayettenam’, he started working on his first raps at the age of eleven with the help of his older brother, Styles. Working on music and being raised with a military structure, wasn’t enough to keep him out of the streets. While hustling he would eventually put out his first mix-tape, Beast Mode and follow it up with Beast Mode 2. However, the streets would finally get to him, which forced him to move to Texas, where his biggest musical influence, UGK, was located.

GRIND & SHINE FEATURED BEAT MAKER/PRODUCER: DEETAH MUSIC

ON SUCH SHORT NOTICE, I HAD A CHANCE TO PEEP FAM'S BEATS...BUT DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT...CHECK OUT THE HOMIE DEETAH FOR YOURSELF!!

Tah Ismael Dembele, as known as Deetah The Masterpiece is from Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast’s political capital. He has the same physique as Bob Marley and similar eyes to the late great Notorious BIG. While others appear to be trend followers, the difference lies within Deetah’s passion for hip-hop. A distinct characteristic Kool Herc and Afrika Bambaata developed in New York within a culture that would affect a younger Ismael in the continent of Africa.
Formerly known as D-Tah; D for Dembele and Tah for his first name, he later changed his stage name to Deetah The Masterpiece to make it memorable. A hip Hop Artist, producer, and owner of his own recording studio, Deetah is no stranger to hard work and dedication to the Hip-Hop way of life, and it shows in his productions.
Deetah started out in France with a group called “Da Mercure” in 2005. With the support of Paterne “Didi F” and “Icepeak” he recorded his first solo project in an appartment next to the beach in Antibes. A year later they would be performing in front of thousands of Hip-Hop heads in the south of france.
In 2007 with the help of Tunisian Music Producer Wechdi Trabelsi, head of Berbere Prod, he released a single to perform live alongside the legendary french rap group 113 in Bizerte (Tunisia) in front of 17000 fans. “One Two” was an instant succes and played in night clubs in Bizerte, Hammamet and Tunis.
In 2012, “Before The Masterpiece” is released independently on Itunes. Deetah did it all by himself: The beats, the recording, the mixing and even the graphic design. It was so important for him to have control over his own art and to keep putting out music that he didnt care for a label. Most surprisingly, “Before The Masterpiece” was popular among the Rap community in Ivory Coast and offered him the chance to get more fans and following. Tracks like “BabiCity” talked to the diaspora while “Im a lover” appealed to a wider audience.
By the end of the year 2013, Deetahmusic.com released “Cristal Clear“, Deetah’s first official music video. Directed by CBE, “Cristal Clear” won the first place at the Coast2coast Live Video Mixer Ed 06/13. Gathering more that ten thousand views on youtube, it was appreciated by Hip Hop purists and lyrically inclined music lovers.
Download “Cristal Clear”
Deetah lives in Montreal (Canada) where he continues his work. Joined by other artists, he’s part of a movement initiated in Ivory Coast to bring Hip-Hop back on the map in Western Africa. “Black Label” is a conglomerate of artists around the world perusing their dreams and working together. Having such a platform as a producer gave him the opportunity to launch Deetahmusic.com’s Freestyle sessions where he invites different rappers and singers to record over his own productions.
Deetahmusic.com launched an online High Quality Beats Store in February 2014,  and UIS (Uninterrupted Instrumentals Supply) to serve Hip-Hop & Rnb Indie music artists with a wide variety of well crafted instrumentals.
Deetah believes in a world of infinite possibilities, where an African child will not feel disadvantaged but equal to another anywhere else on planet earth
